About this role

Role overview A senior product engineer is needed to own the ground-up build of product-led growth and lifecycle infrastructure for a music and audio product line, spanning web, desktop, plugin, and mobile surfaces. The work is greenfield: choosing tools, designing the event model, wiring integrations, and operating the system end to end. The mandate is a measurable, attributable funnel from anonymous visitor through paying subscriber to expanded account, sitting at the intersection of growth marketing, lifecycle systems, and in-product conversion mechanics.

Responsibilities - Select, justify, and own the full growth stack for the Music & Audio vertical — CDP, product analytics, lifecycle/messaging, experimentation, warehouse, reverse-ETL, and entitlements — including cost modeling and tradeoff analysis. - Design a unified event taxonomy with consistent schema and identity resolution across the anonymous → free → paid → multi-device journey. - Build and attribute the full growth funnel across paid, organic, partner, and in-product virality channels. - Architect in-app PLG mechanics including viral loops, referral systems, upgrade prompts, and sharing hooks. - Define and execute lifecycle marketing strategy: segmentation, behavioral triggers, and messaging cadences for activation, habit formation, and expansion. - Ship free-to-paid logic: trial mechanics, paywalls, in-app messaging, and entitlement checks across web and native runtimes. - Build onboarding, churn-risk, reactivation, and win-back sequences. - Instrument A/B experimentation with exposure logging and statistical guardrails. - Own the growth dashboard covering activation, conversion, ARPU, LTV, retention cohorts, and expansion rate.

Requirements - 6+ years of end-to-end ownership of product or growth infrastructure inside a B2C or PLG B2B company. - Deep, hands-on expertise in growth marketing and product lifecycle marketing with a track record of implementation, not just theory. - Production experience across the modern martech stack: CDPs, product analytics, lifecycle/messaging, billing, reverse-ETL, and transformation layers. - Proven ability to ship in-app PLG mechanics where the product itself drives growth. - Proficiency with TypeScript, Node.js, Python, and SQL. - Daily fluency with AI-augmented development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or equivalents. - Experience designing event taxonomies that hold up without schema drift. - History of shipping paywall and entitlement logic in production where revenue depended on it. - Comfort operating without a product manager: setting milestones, owning the schedule, and escalating when needed.

Nice to have - Experience with B2C subscriptions in creative tools, music, or design. - Exposure to music or creative-platform go-to-market motions. - Open-source contributions to data tooling. - Experience as the first PLG or growth engineer at a company. - A track record of building in public through Product Hunt, startup networks, or active presence on social platforms.

Benefits and work setup Success milestones are clearly staged: by day 30 the stack is chosen and approved with identity resolution working and an event taxonomy drafted; by day 60 the full taxonomy is live with a first lifecycle sequence in production and a baseline dashboard; by day 90 paywall and entitlement logic are in production with attribution closing the loop on at least one paid channel; by day 120 an experimentation framework is in active use with the first growth experiment results read out to leadership.
