About this role
Role overview Build and own the data infrastructure behind a transaction marketplace, making its data reliable, well modeled, and useful for operational decisions and customer-facing analytics. This hands-on technical leadership role spans pipelines, warehouse schemas, quality practices, and architecture, with close collaboration across data, product, and engineering.
Responsibilities - Architect and maintain systems that move and transform marketplace data reliably as the platform grows. - Own documented analytical warehouse models used for internal analysis and customer reporting. - Define data quality standards and implement testing, monitoring, and observability to uphold them. - Make and document architecture decisions, including infrastructure that supports product applications of AI and machine learning. - Set a strong example through pipeline, SQL, and modeling work; provide useful code reviews and share support responsibilities. - Lead data platform initiatives from design through production and iteration, communicating risks and tradeoffs to partners.
Requirements - Around 5–8 or more years of data engineering experience; experience in B2B SaaS, marketplaces, or data products is relevant. - Strong SQL and data modeling skills, with the ability to create clean, maintainable models. - Practical experience across data pipelines, orchestration, transformation, and BI or semantic-layer tooling. - Experience owning data quality end to end, including reliability-focused testing and observability. - Track record of taking accountability for systems and longer-running work, and communicating clearly across technical and nontechnical teams. - Comfortable incorporating AI tools into development workflows with sound engineering judgment.
Nice to have - Experience with marketplace or transaction data, applied AI/ML pipelines, customer-facing analytics, or consumer goods and food supply chains. - Familiarity with Estuary, Astronomer Airflow, dbt, Holistics, or LLM tooling in data workflows.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-first work, with coworking access available in select U.S. cities. - Health, dental, and vision coverage subsidies; retirement plan options; paid parental leave; vacation and sick time; company holidays; and paid volunteer leave. - Annual flexible funds for remote work, learning, and team connection. - Listed salary range: $140,000–$175,000. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is unavailable.
