Role overview
This position supports a defence-planning directorate by designing and maintaining web applications and dashboards used for data collection, analysis, and visualisation. The work centres on transforming data from classified and unclassified sources into accessible tools that inform senior leadership and policy staff. It is a consultancy-style engagement delivered on a hybrid basis, with periodic on-site presence expected.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy web-based dashboards tailored to senior stakeholders - Build and configure web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks - Develop and test data-collection solutions, integrating sources into web-based systems - Perform data conversion and preprocessing using Python APIs and ETL tooling - Create data-driven visualisations and reports using Python and/or Power BI - Maintain documentation covering code, service endpoints, and system architecture - Support security testing, stakeholder workshops, progress briefings, and knowledge transfer
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field - Minimum 5 years of web development experience using JavaScript/HTML with frameworks such as React, Vue.js, or Angular - Extensive MS SQL experience alongside strong Python skills for automation, ETL, and analysis - Working knowledge of pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib libraries - Demonstrated experience building dashboards for senior audiences and maintaining backend services or data-processing pipelines - Valid national or NATO Secret personal security clearance, advanced English, and ability to work hybrid with some on-site presence
Benefits and work setup
- Hybrid remote working with on-site presence in Brussels and approximately half of standard working hours available for contact across time zones - Initial base period of November to December 2026, with potential extensions covering 2027 and the first half of 2028 - Occasional travel to other NATO sites roughly 2–3 times during the performance period, with travel costs covered - Signed NDA required before commencement
