Data Engineer – Space & GIS

Role overview This position supports a multinational alliance programme that integrates commercial space-based intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) data into shared operational systems. The engineer will help operate and evolve the Collection Tool that ingests commercial satellite data, manages tasking requests, and surfaces results through mapping interfaces for end users across allied organizations.

Responsibilities

- Manage commercial data integration workflows that satisfy operational collection requirements for the alliance's persistent surveillance programme. - Support user interface changes for the Collection Tool, including evaluating requests and implementing approved modifications. - Investigate and resolve data flow bottlenecks and production issues across the ingestion, processing, and visualization pipeline. - Coordinate with mission stakeholders to clarify requirements and document Collection Tool behaviour, configuration, and operational procedures. - Contribute to protocols that allow multiple commercial ISR providers to be combined into a unified collection capability.

Requirements

- At least five years of experience with multi-mission planning, including orbit and sensor modelling for space-based collection. - Recent hands-on experience developing and operating space ISR collection tools for national or multinational clients. - Working proficiency with GIS concepts and modern web mapping libraries used to render geospatial intelligence products. - Strong written and spoken English communication, demonstrated within the past five years. - Self-motivated problem solver who can work independently and collaborate as part of a cross-functional team. - Active national or NATO Secret personal security clearance.

Nice to have

- Familiarity with NATO or national intelligence processes and prior NATO or military experience. - Background in space-based ISR tradecraft and current commercial space capabilities.
