Software Engineer, Data Infrastructure & Acquisition - College Station, TX, USA

Role overview A distributed, fully remote engineering team building consumer text-to-speech products is hiring a software engineer to own the data infrastructure that feeds its AI model training pipeline. The role blends large-scale cloud engineering, data acquisition, and research collaboration, sitting at the intersection of audio, machine learning, and infrastructure. The work spans petabyte-scale ingestion systems used to power next-generation consumer and enterprise speech products.

Responsibilities - Scout new sources of audio data and integrate them into the ingestion pipeline - Operate and extend the cloud infrastructure that powers data collection, built on a major cloud provider and managed with Terraform - Work closely with research scientists to push the cost, throughput, and quality frontier of training datasets - Build and refine large-scale data processing workflows, including web crawling components - Partner with leadership to shape the long-term dataset roadmap that supports upcoming products - Handle multiple concurrent tasks and adapt quickly as priorities shift

Requirements - BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field - 5 or more years of industry experience in software development - Proficiency with bash and Python scripting in Linux environments - Strong grasp of Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code patterns, plus hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform - Solid written and verbal communication skills - Ability to juggle competing priorities in a fast-moving environment
