Job details
About this role
Role overview Build and lead a new engineering team responsible for a Kubernetes application delivery product. The product is intended to coordinate releases across environments while working alongside Argo CD, replacing custom delivery glue with managed promotion, policy checks, visibility, and configuration updates. You will shape the early architecture and product approach with a product manager, taking the work from design through pilot and first release.
Responsibilities - Hire and develop backend and frontend engineers, and establish team practices for planning, design and code review, and on-call support. - Prototype the product, test assumptions with customers, and adapt the design based on feedback. - Own architecture, reliability, security, quality, and delivery; document key design decisions and trade-offs. - Estimate the work and create a phased delivery plan, then lead the team toward a first release. - Partner with product management on design-partner pilots and coordinate shared components with other engineering teams. - Build toward a working product in a real Argo CD environment and adoption by at least one design partner during the first six months.
Requirements - Experience managing engineers, including hiring, and recent hands-on engineering experience sufficient to lead architecture and review code. - Production experience with Argo CD or Flux, including synchronization, Helm or Kustomize rendering, health reporting, and scaling challenges. - Background building distributed systems, developer platforms, or workflow engines. - Working knowledge of Terraform or OpenTofu. - Ability to write design documents that help teams collaborate and make sound technical choices. - Strong written and spoken English and residence in Europe.
Nice to have - Go, Kubernetes controllers or operators, or experience building agents. - Familiarity with GitOps delivery tools, policy-as-code such as OPA/Rego, developer tools, or B2B SaaS. - Experience taking a product from inception to first customers or contributing to Argo or other CNCF projects.
Benefits and work setup Remote-first work with flexibility. The position is offered on a B2B contract with salary and equity.
