Lead Analytics Engineer

Role overview

A senior individual-contributor role within an internal analytics platform team that serves a portfolio of AAA game studios. The mission is to scale and evolve the end-to-end data infrastructure that supports live and in-development console titles, with the engineer owning data models for specific games and partnering directly with studio teams. It's a hybrid engineering-and-analytics position suited to someone who wants to combine SQL craft, data modelling, and game development context.

Responsibilities

- Design, build, and own production data models tied to new title launches, prioritizing query efficiency and consistency across the platform. - Work directly with game developers and analysts to spec in-game telemetry, ensuring events captured in-engine map cleanly to downstream analytical use cases. - Expand adoption of modern data tooling (dbt-style model frameworks, Airflow orchestration, and related technologies) in patterns that fit platform needs. - Apply software-engineering discipline to data model work, including version control, testing, and documentation. - Collaborate with cross-functional analytics and studio colleagues to keep modelling consistent and performant as the catalog of games grows.

Requirements

- Strong SQL skills on OLAP/analytics databases such as Redshift or comparable columnar warehouses. - Practical experience implementing and operating a data modelling framework such as dbt or SQLMesh. - Ability to translate ambiguous product or business questions into concrete data model requirements and solutions. - Genuine interest in big-data projects and a desire to deepen expertise in that area. - A quality-first mindset with enthusiasm for repeatable, testable, test-driven database development.

Nice to have

- Computer Science degree or equivalent background. - Experience with Python, AWS Glue, source control tools such as Git or Liquibase, and Airflow. - Familiarity with AAA console game development workflows and live-service titles.
