About this role
Role overview A senior ETL and reporting developer is needed to design, build, and maintain the data, reports, and dashboards that drive insight across a multi-state nonprofit organization. The role blends hands-on SQL and ETL development with stakeholder engagement and mentorship of junior BI developers. It is a remote position, with candidates required to physically reside in AZ, CO, FL, IL, MA, MN, OH, OK, OR, PA, TX, VA, or WA.
Responsibilities - Write and optimize T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and SSIS packages that load data into the warehouse. - Refactor database objects and tune query performance to keep reporting fast and maintainable. - Build analytic reports and dashboards from conception through publication using Cognos, Power BI, and Tableau. - Develop deep familiarity with internal databases, identifying the right data sources, relationships, and logic for reliable reporting. - Maintain and update existing BI reports to support new KPIs and evolving business needs. - Provide developer-level support for data requests, troubleshooting issues at the database and report interface layers. - Co-lead the BI team in identifying data and reporting needs, drafting business requirement documents, and delivering on complex cross-functional projects. - Participate in an on-call rotation and produce end-user documentation for troubleshooting and auditing.
Requirements - 6+ years of relevant experience. - Practical workplace coding experience in T-SQL. - Practical workplace experience with BI front-end tools such as Cognos, Power BI, or Tableau. - Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or later, Cognos Analytics, Tableau Desktop/Server, JIRA, Microsoft Visual Studio, and the Microsoft 365 suite. - Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field preferred. - MCSA or MTA certifications preferred. - A stable home internet connection with at least 50 Mbps download, 5 Mbps upload, and average jitter below 20% of latency.
