DevOps / Platform Engineer

Role overview

A platform engineering role focused on standardizing operational baselines across multiple client environments without overreaching. The work centers on practical guardrails for security, reliability, and deployment hygiene, paired with collaborative improvement of build, rollout, and rollback practices.

Responsibilities

- Establish sensible defaults for secrets management, backups, TLS, log retention, and deployment hygiene across environments. - Partner with application engineers to shorten build times, harden rollouts, and make rollbacks routine rather than dramatic. - Build small internal tools that remove friction from everyday developer and operations tasks. - Document procedures so other team members can operate the systems confidently. - Communicate clearly during incidents, including what changed, what broke, and what is being done.

Requirements

- Production experience operating multiple environments, ideally across distinct projects or client setups. - Comfort writing small utilities and scripts to automate recurring operational work. - Discipline to make measured, incremental improvements rather than large sweeping rewrites. - Strong documentation habits and willingness to teach peers how to run what was built. - Clear, calm communication during incidents and change windows.

Nice to have

- Exposure to a variety of stacks and infrastructure providers, with the pragmatism to choose the simplest workable option.
