Role overview

A federal-sector consulting team is standing up an enterprise budgeting platform and needs a hands-on data engineer to move financial data from a variety of source systems into the new solution. The work blends ETL/ELT pipeline engineering with finance-domain data understanding, sits inside a collaborative delivery team, and runs as a full-time remote engagement with minimal travel.

Responsibilities

- Design, build, and maintain automated ETL/ELT pipelines that pull financial data from ERPs, general ledgers, and HR systems into the budgeting platform. - Partner with functional consultants and client stakeholders to analyze source-system structures, relationships, and business rules. - Develop data mapping specifications and write HANA CDS views, SQL queries, and transformation logic to cleanse and validate financial records. - Implement data-quality checks, reconciliation routines, and monitoring that catch issues before they reach downstream reporting. - Troubleshoot failed jobs, tune pipeline performance, and document data flows, integration specs, and operating procedures. - Coordinate with solution architects, project managers, and subject-matter experts to keep the integration aligned with overall program goals.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or equivalent practical experience. - 5+ years in data integration, CDS view development, ETL, or data engineering roles. - Hands-on experience with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), SAP HANA, SAP S/4HANA, SAP BW/4HANA, and SAP BW, including loading models from S/4HANA source systems. - Strong SQL and CDS skills against relational databases such as HANA, SQL Server, or Oracle. - Solid grasp of data analytics, business intelligence, and reporting concepts, plus client-side JavaScript for SAC enhancements. - U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Nice to have

- Prior work on financial or ERP implementations for federal government clients. - Familiarity with SAP BTP, SAP Data Services, SAP BODS, BPC, BW-IP, or ABAP scripting. - Exposure to budgeting and forecasting platforms such as OneStream, Anaplan, Oracle EPM/Hyperion/FM, or IBM TM1. - Understanding of core accounting concepts (general ledger, chart of accounts, trial balances) and API-based integration patterns (REST, SOAP). - Relevant SAP certifications and prior consulting or client-facing experience.
