Role overview
Senior software engineer contributing to one of several product teams spanning connected hardware, web applications, mobile apps, backend services, or AI-enabled workflows. The work focuses on designing dependable software for property operations and resident experiences, while raising engineering standards, modernizing existing systems, and supporting other developers. Candidates are preferably based in Phoenix and able to work from headquarters on a hybrid schedule.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement important product components and features in collaboration with product, design, and quality teams. - Build clean, maintainable software and participate in code reviews, mentoring, and engineering-practice improvements. - Improve performance, refactor legacy code, and preserve compatibility as products evolve. - Depending on team placement, develop access-control integrations for locks, intercoms, and credentials; React web interfaces; Elixir services and REST or GraphQL APIs; React Native mobile workflows; AI-assisted search; or mobile features that work with limited connectivity. - Support secure device onboarding, credential management, audit trails, event processing, scheduling, analytics, and third-party integrations where relevant.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience. - Approximately 4–6 years of software development experience, including professional work with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, APIs, version control, build pipelines, CI/CD, and agile delivery. - At least three years of professional experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and a modern framework such as React or React Native. - Strong understanding of REST APIs, asynchronous requests, Git, and modern build tooling. - Excellent communication, attention to detail, and ability to work across product and engineering disciplines.
Nice to have
- Experience with Elixir, TypeScript, Node.js, React Native, mobile push notifications, cloud messaging, IoT or hardware integrations, offline-first applications, or large event-processing systems. - Familiarity with unit and integration testing tools, agile planning systems, and frameworks such as Jest.
