Role overview A fully remote U.S.-based opportunity for a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to lead the design and scaling of a clinical AI platform used by health systems to interpret electronic health record data and surface revenue-cycle recommendations. The role blends hands-on ML engineering with technical leadership, focusing on reliable production systems, reusable architecture, and developer experience across multiple product lines.
Responsibilities - Build and scale machine-learning-driven features that support clinical decisioning across multiple products - Design reusable architecture and shared infrastructure that accelerates ML development organization-wide - Set and uphold standards for software and ML practices, including code quality, deployment discipline, and observability - Mentor engineers and influence cross-disciplinary teams to adopt modern ML development practices - Manage the full production model lifecycle, from training through deployment, release, and post-launch monitoring - Coordinate delivery using agile methodologies and contribute to project planning for small engineering teams
Requirements - 10+ years of professional development experience with a focus on machine learning engineering - Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, plus hands-on experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow - Demonstrated ownership of the end-to-end production model lifecycle, including deployment and monitoring - Experience integrating ML into product features alongside diverse, cross-functional teams - Working knowledge of a major cloud platform (AWS preferred) and its managed ML services - Solid grasp of data engineering and architecture principles, with strong collaboration and communication skills
Nice to have - Background as a startup founder or first engineering hire - Familiarity with health tech, hospital billing, or revenue cycle workflows - Experience deploying large language model systems into production - Open-source contributions or active participation in the ML community
