About this role
Role overview This Software Engineer role focuses on the data platforms that process, transform, and refine terabytes of TV and advertising data every day. The mission is to keep the underlying data platform scalable, robust, and current with the state of the art. The work is remote-first, with on-site collaboration in Berlin or Cologne for larger features and architectural decisions.
Responsibilities - Design and implement technical solutions for big-data applications in an agile, performance-oriented environment. - Continuously develop and optimize data aggregation pipelines for TV, advertising, and forecasting workloads, primarily with Spark and Scala. - Operate, manage, and scale cloud-native solutions using Docker and Kubernetes on AWS. - Drive test automation from unit tests through complex integration tests, applying test-driven development as the standard. - Evaluate new frameworks and tools, share findings with the team, and help keep the platform at the cutting edge of big-data engineering.
Requirements - Solid software engineering experience, ideally with a strong focus on JVM languages such as Scala or Java, and/or Python. - Confident working with Spark, Hadoop, or comparable distributed systems. - Experience with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS, applied confidently in production. - A quality-first mindset with a track record of delivering clean, reliable code. - Passion for turning the complexity of large-scale data into elegant, efficient implementations.
Nice to have - Familiarity with Trino, Flowman, or Delta Lake.
