Role overview A Staff Software Developer position on a small backend services team building technology that helps independent restaurants compete against major chains. The role is remote across the UK (with a Belfast office) and centers on owning end-to-end projects that deliver outsized impact through scalable backend systems.

Responsibilities - Design, code, and launch backend features that help restaurant partners operate more efficiently and serve customers smoothly - Identify asymmetric opportunities where small technical changes deliver disproportionate value - Own projects from concept through production, partnering with product and design teams - Select appropriate tools for each job; primary stack is Python with Flask, with flexibility across other languages and cloud services - Collaborate within a tight-knit team of 5 to 8 backend engineers distributed across the US, UK, and Europe - Apply best practices in coding, testing, monitoring, and DevOps to keep services reliable at scale

Requirements - Solid experience crafting scalable backend systems in Python with Flask - Comfort working with databases and cloud services - Founder-like ownership mindset and ability to move fast in ambiguous, fast-paced environments - Proven track record delivering end-to-end initiatives with urgency - Curiosity to experiment, adapt, and iterate toward better user outcomes - Strong written and verbal communication in a distributed team
