Remote job
Senior Technical Product Manager
Job details
About this role
Role overview
A high-agency individual contributor role shaping what gets built and why across a paired software platform: an internal product and a public-facing API Gateway that handles integrations and authentication. Reporting to the CTO, the position owns product judgment end-to-end, from defining the metrics that matter, to diagnosing what limits them, to deciding the next engineering bets, to measuring results after launch. The work is technical product leadership with a strong emphasis on AI-augmented discovery, analytics, and experimentation, partnering daily with a small engineering team without managing them.
Responsibilities
- Define the highest-leverage product metrics across the platform (activation, usage, retention, expansion, revenue, time-to-value, gateway and integration adoption) and diagnose what is limiting each. - Decide what engineering should build next, articulating the hypothesis, the metric being moved, and the success criteria. - Lead weekly sprint kickoffs that leave the team aligned on the target metric, the planned work, and how impact will be measured. - Own customer discovery: talk to users regularly, separate loud requests from durable opportunities, and translate insights into roadmap shifts. - Drive product analytics and instrumentation quality so no major initiative ships without a measurement plan, then review post-launch results to iterate, expand, revert, or move on. - Protect the team from low-impact or poorly scoped work, and keep the integration and gateway roadmap intentionally prioritized.
Requirements
- Track record owning a technical software product, with comfort around APIs, integrations, authentication, and working with data. - Evidence of metrics personally owned and moved, demonstrated through diagnosis rather than a feature-list narrative. - Experience leading sprint cadence and prioritization with an engineering team. - Hands-on ownership of product analytics and instrumentation using tools such as PostHog, Amplitude, or Mixpanel. - Daily fluency using AI for research, synthesis, analytics, specs, prototyping, and competitive work. - A high-agency stance: setting roadmap direction rather than serving as a conduit or backlog administrator.
Nice to have
- Background at early-stage or growth-stage companies. - Familiarity with developer tools, API products, infrastructure, or AI-driven products.
Benefits and work setup
- Full-time, remote; Los Angeles is a plus but not required. - Compensation range of $120,000–$150,000 USD per year. - Medical, dental, and vision coverage; life insurance; 401(k) with a 4% match. - Unlimited paid time off, monthly meal credits, a MacBook, and a home-office stipend and setup.
