Forward Deploy Engineer · APJ

Role overview This remote, APJ-based Forward Deploy Engineer role sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and customer operations. You will embed with fleet operators across the region to stand up Datadog-native Starlink observability, encode vessel and site context into tags, leave behind runbooks the NOC actually uses, and surface field gaps that shape the product roadmap.

Responsibilities - Lead technical deployment of Starlink observability into customer Datadog environments - Configure agents, tagging, dashboards, monitors, and Downtime patterns for real fleet topologies - Partner with enterprise solutions architects and account executives from pilot success criteria through production cutover - Document runbooks, escalation paths, and operational ownership for customer NOC and ITOC teams - Troubleshoot bandwidth, residency, agent, and packaging issues in live production environments - Surface field requirements, failure modes, and unmet customer needs to inform product roadmap decisions - Validate feature concepts against real fleet workflows before and after shipping

Requirements - Hands-on experience configuring Datadog agents, tagging, dashboards, and monitors at scale - Background deploying observability or monitoring tools into complex, distributed fleet environments - Comfort troubleshooting live production issues across bandwidth, residency, and packaging constraints - Ability to write clear operational runbooks and document escalation paths for NOC and ITOC teams - Strong cross-functional partnership skills with solutions architects, account executives, and product or engineering

Nice to have - Experience working with maritime, aviation, energy, emergency and healthcare, or remote-site operators in APJ
