Senior Data & Platform Engineer

Role overview A senior engineering role owning the systems behind a data product for the built world. The team operates as a mix of humans and AI coding agents, and the mandate spans a large-scale data ingestion fleet, the platform that turns raw records into intelligence, the supporting infrastructure, and an internal AI harness used across projects.

Responsibilities - Operate and evolve a spider fleet that pulls permit records out of thousands of government systems - Build and maintain the data platform that turns raw data into product-ready intelligence - Own cloud infrastructure across ingestion, processing, and serving - Develop and extend an in-house AI coding harness used by both engineers and non-engineers - Drive architecture decisions verified against live production data - Maintain code review standards and mentor collaborators across the workflow

Requirements - Significant senior-level experience with data platforms and large-scale infrastructure - Comfort designing systems where AI agents and humans share day-to-day work - Strong engineering judgment under ambiguity, including willingness to discard work based on evidence - Production experience with cloud infrastructure and data pipelines - Ability to own outcomes end-to-end across ingestion, modelling, and serving - Eligible to work remotely across Americas and European time zones

Nice to have - Experience with Claude Code, custom AI tooling, or agent harnesses - Background in geospatial, GIS, or permitting-style datasets - Familiarity with evidence-driven planning and disposable production-scale prototypes
