Role overview This position calls for a developer advocate who serves as the public voice connecting an engineering-driven organization with software developers across Japanese-speaking markets. The role centers on education, community building, and clear technical communication, with the goal of helping local developers succeed while bringing their feedback back into product and engineering decisions. It is a remote-first role well suited to someone comfortable working with high autonomy.
Responsibilities - Produce technical content such as tutorials, blog posts, code samples, and documentation aimed at Japanese-speaking developers - Engage the Japanese developer community through online forums, social platforms, conferences, and meetups - Localize and adapt existing technical material into Japanese while preserving technical accuracy - Gather feedback from developers and relay actionable insights to engineering and product teams - Represent the organization at industry events, webinars, and technical discussions - Work with engineers to ensure public-facing technical content is accurate and current
Requirements - Native or professional fluency in Japanese, with strong working English for internal collaboration - Hands-on experience with software development, APIs, or developer tooling - Demonstrated ability to write technical content or speak to technical audiences - Comfort operating independently in a remote-first, asynchronous environment - Strong written and verbal communication skills - Familiarity with how developers discover, evaluate, and adopt new tools
Nice to have - Experience with search APIs, web data extraction, or scraping tooling - Active involvement in open-source communities or Japanese developer circles - Existing network within the Japanese tech ecosystem - Background in developer relations, technical evangelism, or similar roles
