Role overview A senior data engineering role building the infrastructure that powers cybersecurity threat detection research. The work focuses on designing, building, and maintaining data systems that allow data scientists and security researchers to make sense of petabytes of telemetry and uncover the threats that matter.
Responsibilities - Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines processing petabytes of security data per day for research purposes - Develop production-grade pipelines applying software engineering best practices - Operate big data infrastructure and cloud data warehouses with a focus on reliability and performance - Partner with data scientists and security researchers to deliver impactful data solutions that support threat detection - Ensure data quality, observability, and governance across the platform
Requirements - 4+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or distributed systems - Proficiency in Python, Java, Scala, or a similar language - Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure - Experience deploying big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, Hive, Iceberg, or Trino - Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and technologies - BS or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field (relevant experience may substitute for a degree) - Experience leading cross-functional projects between R&D and product teams
Nice to have - Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Grafana - Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to design innovative solutions to complex problems - Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex data and models to varied stakeholders
