Data Engineering Lead

Role overview Lead the technical direction and ongoing development of a data platform that supports analytics and AI products. You’ll shape its architecture and shared data foundation, while building practical AI agents to reduce repetitive engineering and business intelligence work. The role combines hands-on platform ownership with technical leadership through mentoring and sound design decisions.

Responsibilities - Define platform architecture, engineering standards, and the direction of data systems. - Own data pipelines, models, and platform improvements from design through operation. - Create and maintain agent-based workflows that automate recurring data and BI tasks. - Build a governed semantic layer so analysts, strategists, and language models can use consistent data. - Improve existing workflows and systems, including refactoring pipelines and complex queries. - Mentor engineers through code review, pairing, and project guidance.

Requirements - Strong data engineering experience and the ability to make and explain architectural decisions. - Ability to build and operate data platforms and pipelines end to end. - Practical interest in applying AI and agents to improve engineering workflows. - Strong judgment when prioritizing technical improvements and responding to competing needs. - Communication and mentoring skills, including the ability to guide colleagues without relying on formal authority. - Comfortable adapting to changing tools, context-switching, and managing multiple priorities.

Benefits and work setup Remote-first role for candidates based in the United States who can work continental US hours; an office option is available in Philadelphia. Listed annual compensation is $140,000–$160,000, with the offer based on skills and experience and compensation reviewed at least annually.
