PostgreSQL Database Administrator

Role overview This is a remote PostgreSQL Database Administrator position embedded within a Cloud Operations Engineering team that supports a computer software platform. The role is responsible for keeping PostgreSQL environments healthy, performant, and aligned with the needs of cloud-hosted services, while partnering with engineers on data-layer decisions. It is a fully remote role based in the United Kingdom, with the listed ATS location in London.

Responsibilities - Administer, monitor, and maintain PostgreSQL database instances across production and non-production environments - Ensure database availability, reliability, and performance as part of a broader cloud operations function - Design and execute backup, recovery, replication, and high-availability strategies - Collaborate with engineering teams on schema design, query optimization, migrations, and troubleshooting - Apply tuning, patching, and configuration best practices to keep database fleets current and secure

Requirements - Prior hands-on experience operating PostgreSQL in a production DBA capacity - Solid understanding of PostgreSQL internals, configuration, and performance tuning - Familiarity with cloud infrastructure concepts and operating database workloads in cloud environments - Experience with backup/recovery, replication, failover, and disaster recovery patterns - Proficiency with SQL plus scripting for automation and operational tasks - Working knowledge of database security, access control, and compliance considerations
