Senior QA Automation Engineer

Role overview

A senior, engineering-first quality role focused on shaping automated testing for a next-generation event-driven platform. The position involves owning quality across complex distributed systems, including API layers, microservices, and Kafka-based event pipelines, with real influence over how testing is architected rather than retrofitted at the end of the cycle.

Responsibilities

- Design and maintain automated test suites covering APIs and microservices - Build and run tests for Kafka-based and other event-driven workflows, validating message flow, ordering, and failure handling - Verify data integrity in MongoDB through schema-level and query-level checks - Develop integration and end-to-end automation spanning multi-service workflows - Run regression, performance, and reliability testing to surface issues before release - Embed automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery - Write test automation primarily in Python, contributing reusable frameworks and tooling

Requirements

- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience in test automation or SDET roles - Proven background automating tests for APIs and microservices - Hands-on experience testing Kafka or similar event-driven, message-based architectures - Familiarity with MongoDB or comparable NoSQL data stores - Strong background in integration and end-to-end workflow automation - Solid Python skills for building and maintaining automation, not just consuming scripts - Comfort working in an engineering-oriented QA culture rather than a manual-testing environment

- Experience with performance and reliability testing beyond functional regression - Background working on data-intensive or fast-moving distributed products
