Job details
About this role
Role overview A player-manager technical lead position accountable for delivering production-grade intelligent solutions in a client-facing delivery model. The role combines hands-on engineering contribution with squad leadership, working alongside a Solutions Architect, Product Manager, and client engineering teams to translate scope into working software in regulated, critical-infrastructure environments.
Responsibilities - Lead technical delivery across the full solution stack, from data ingestion and processing pipelines through API and application layers, holding the bar on quality, reliability, and security. - Serve as the primary technical point of contact for the client, building relationships with their engineering and operations teams and representing the delivery approach with confidence. - Lead and mentor a cross-functional squad of data engineers, data scientists, and software engineers, setting engineering standards and guiding direction through code review and architectural decisions. - Work closely with the Solutions Architect to translate design into day-to-day delivery decisions, managing technical risk and escalating when needed. - Partner with the Product Manager to break product scope into pieces a cross-functional team can deliver, contributing hands-on coding while maintaining strong context over the codebase and platform. - Spend significant time on the client site working directly with the client's technical team to deliver the production system.
Requirements - At least 7 years in a technical role with a minimum of 2 years leading technical delivery as a player-manager, ideally in a client-facing or consulting model. - Working knowledge across software and data engineering, with the ability to review and unblock React and TypeScript frontend work, Python (FastAPI or Django) or .NET backend services, and Azure data pipeline work. - Hands-on delivery experience on Microsoft Azure, including Event Hubs, Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks, Azure Digital Twins, AKS or containers, and Azure AI services. - Track record of mentoring engineers through delivery and setting engineering standards, combined with comfort being the primary technical face to the client in a regulated, critical-infrastructure environment. - Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, plus the ability to work autonomously in a small, internationally distributed team coordinated through video and virtual collaboration tooling.
Nice to have - Experience in utilities or other regulated, asset-intensive sectors, particularly operational technology, SCADA integration, or control-room environments. - Familiarity with environmental compliance, pollution event management, or network asset monitoring in a utility context. - Relevant Microsoft, Databricks, or other cloud and data certifications. - Knowledge of data governance, quality frameworks, and security practices in regulated environments, especially within an Azure landing zone.
