About this role
Role overview A unified design organization spanning brand, creative, and product is hiring its first dedicated senior brand designer. The role reports to the VP of Design and is responsible for shaping how a multi-domain technology company presents itself across brand and web, with no inherited practice to lean on. The work blends strategic vision-setting with hands-on execution across complex, technically demanding subject matter.
Responsibilities - Define and evolve the overarching brand direction, including visual identity, design system, component libraries, guidelines, and sub-brand architecture, serving as the most senior voice on brand. - Express a cohesive parent brand across six visually distinct domains (life sciences, chemistry, financial services, navigation, AI operations, and cybersecurity) while keeping each area recognizable on its own. - Own the corporate website end to end: design, build, ship, and maintain it directly in a modern visual CMS, treating it as a long-term product rather than a one-off launch. - Produce high-craft deliverables personally, including conference and event graphics, brochures, one-pagers, infographics, and executive or go-to-market materials, using the steady cadence of work to push the system forward. - Build scalable resources and processes such as deck templates, brand kits, asset libraries, and AI-assisted workflows so colleagues across the company can self-serve quality work. - Partner early with product designers, creative media, marketing, and go-to-market teams, and brief or direct external partners on overflow or specialist projects while holding the quality bar.
Requirements - Around eight or more years of professional experience crafting brand systems, graphic design, and web design. - Hands-on fluency with a modern visual CMS or web builder (e.g., Webflow) plus HTML/CSS, comfortable taking a site from design through launch and ongoing maintenance solo. - Proven track record building design systems or component libraries, with a portfolio that demonstrates range across visually distinct audiences while maintaining a recognizable through-line. - Ability to translate dense technical or scientific subject matter into clear, accessible visual design. - Demonstrated success establishing a brand or web practice from scratch and operating independently. - Active, working use of AI tools in the design workflow, plus strong written and presentation skills for winning internal support for ideas.
Nice to have - Motion, animation, or interactive web/UI experience. - Building interactive, web-native alternatives to static PDFs and slide decks. - Brand or web experience in science, deep tech, healthcare, or similarly technically demanding fields. - Baseline SEO and accessibility literacy. - Print and physical production experience.
Benefits and work setup - Competitive base compensation with performance-based incentives or bonuses (where applicable) and equity participation. - Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents with generous employer premium contributions, retirement savings with company matching, paid parental leave, and inclusive family-building benefits. - Fully remote setup with flexible paid time off, company-wide seasonal breaks, and support for flexible arrangements. - Ongoing career development through on-the-job learning, cross-functional collaboration, and access to internal learning programs.
