Senior Software Engineer I/II - Infrastructure
Job details
About this role
Role overview The Senior Software Engineer on the Infrastructure team evolves the cloud foundations behind every product on a large-scale IoT platform. The role reduces systemic production risk and enables growth by making infrastructure safer to change, easier to operate, and more resilient and cost-efficient across a multi-account, multi-region AWS environment that includes regulated workloads.
Responsibilities - Set technical direction for major infrastructure systems and lead ambiguous initiatives spanning multiple teams. - Design, build, and operate reliable cloud platforms with depth in areas such as compute and workload orchestration, networking, storage, stateful systems, or infrastructure control planes. - Improve scalability, capacity management, failure isolation, recovery, and cost efficiency of critical production infrastructure. - Build standardized infrastructure-as-code workflows and reusable automation supporting self-service provisioning, testing, progressive rollout, reconciliation, rollback, and drift prevention. - Identify shared failure modes and build safeguards that prevent localized failures from escalating into broad customer impact. - Contribute to multi-account, multi-region, and isolated AWS architectures, including regulated environments such as GovCloud. - Participate in operational ownership and incident response, using incidents and near misses to drive durable architectural improvements. - Mentor engineers, raise the quality of infrastructure design and operational judgment, and establish patterns that can be adopted organization-wide.
Requirements - 6+ years of experience designing and building software, infrastructure, or distributed systems, including operating critical systems in production. - Deep expertise in at least one of: compute and workload orchestration, networking, storage and stateful systems, or cloud infrastructure control planes. - Strong software engineering fundamentals in Go, Python, Java, or a similar language. - Hands-on experience designing and operating infrastructure on AWS at meaningful scale.
Benefits and work setup Flexible working model with offices available for in-person collaboration; remote work supported where operationally appropriate.
