Role overview
Lead the team responsible for the foundational infrastructure behind a large-scale software platform. This management role combines people leadership with technical strategy across compute, networking, storage, cloud control planes, reliability, and efficiency. The position is remote within the United States and involves supporting a globally distributed engineering organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, hire, and develop a distributed Core Infrastructure team, including senior individual contributors and technical leads. - Define infrastructure strategy and turn it into an integrated roadmap covering compute, networking, storage, reliability, and cloud efficiency. - Improve operational resilience through capacity planning, failure isolation, observability, safer releases, incident learning, and sustainable on-call practices. - Build automation, self-service capabilities, and standardized infrastructure paths that help product teams deliver securely and reliably. - Use AI-enabled tools and workflows where appropriate to improve engineering execution, operational analysis, and reduction of repetitive work. - Establish clear ownership and collaborate with engineering and security leaders on systems required for continued platform growth.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field. - At least eight years of relevant software engineering experience, including two or more years managing software engineering teams. - Experience leading infrastructure, platform, cloud, or similarly foundational engineering functions at meaningful scale. - Strong understanding of reliability, observability, automation, capacity management, and operational practices. - Ability to set technical direction while developing people, clarifying ownership, and aligning multiple stakeholders. - A collaborative, inclusive, customer-focused approach with clear written and verbal communication.
