Smart Contract Engineer (Solidity, EVM)
Job details
About this role
Role overview Own the EVM smart contract work for an agent-payment product, with Solidity as the primary language. The central responsibility is an escrow system on Base that holds USDC until a signed decision releases funds to a seller or returns them to a buyer. You will also own onchain signature verification, security reviews, and production releases, with the goal of ensuring the contracts cannot redirect counterparties’ funds.
Responsibilities - Design, implement, and test escrow contracts with release and refund paths that do not depend on an operator moving funds. - Build verification that checks signed decisions, their intended audience, and expiry before funds can move. - Plan external audits before mainnet releases, respond to findings, and ship fixes. - Maintain deployment scripts, an emergency pause mechanism, and a recovery runbook. - Coordinate with the signing-side engineer on the interface between offchain decisions and onchain checks.
Requirements - Experience shipping Solidity contracts to mainnet. - Residence in a country where the position can be hired.
Nice to have - Knowledge of EVM storage layout, reentrancy risks, or signature verification. - Experience with Rust or Anchor, Solana, account abstraction, session keys, USDC, or cross-chain transfer systems. - Security research, bug bounty work, or open-source contributions.
Benefits and work setup - US salary range: $170,000–$220,000; offers elsewhere are benchmarked to the local market and paid in USD or optionally USDC. - Vesting equity, health coverage, 25 days of paid vacation plus public holidays, year-end closure, and 14 weeks of paid parental leave. - Laptop, $1,000 workspace allowance, and $1,500 annual learning budget; work-related conference travel is also covered. - Flexible hours, with team overlap expected from 14:00 to 17:00 UTC. Mainnet incidents may require attention outside that window. - A second job is permitted when there is no conflict and it does not involve competing work or these contracts.
