About this role
Role overview
This role helps established engineering teams adopt AI-assisted development in a way that improves delivery without weakening engineering standards. You will work directly with teams to understand whether a bottleneck is caused by process, tooling, skills, or some combination, then design workflows that fit how people actually build software. The emphasis is on durable changes to day-to-day engineering practice, not tool promotion or one-off demonstrations.
Responsibilities
- Introduce and improve AI development workflows for engineering teams with different levels of experience and adoption. - Evaluate where agents and other AI tools belong in the software development lifecycle and where human review remains essential. - Diagnose delivery friction across team habits, development processes, technical tooling, and organizational context. - Create practical commands, scripts, templates, checks, or harnesses that make workflows safer and less error-prone. - Coach skeptical or cautious engineers in ways that increase effectiveness without asking them to abandon sound judgment. - Measure whether new practices lead to maintainable delivery rather than short-lived demo results.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering background and credibility with experienced developers. - Demonstrated experience introducing AI-assisted development practices to an existing team. - Ability to explain technical trade-offs clearly to people with different levels of enthusiasm and expertise. - Practical understanding of the software delivery lifecycle, including review, testing, quality controls, and maintainability. - Skill in distinguishing a people problem, process problem, and tooling problem under real delivery pressure. - A hands-on working setup that includes useful automation, templates, checks, or other workflow improvements.
Benefits and work setup
- Remote, client-facing role with working hours aligned to the United States. - The engagement may begin with paid contractor work on a real project, with the possibility of expanding the relationship when the fit is strong.
