Middle Next.js Developer

Role overview A mid-level frontend and full-stack engineering role focused on a consumer subscription product, working inside a typed TypeScript monorepo that spans a Next.js App Router client, a Fastify and Payload CMS API backed by PostgreSQL, and edge services on Cloudflare Workers. You will own features end-to-end—from breakdown and estimate through implementation, testing, and production release—while working within a strict Feature-Sliced Design codebase. The position suits a disciplined engineer who treats production stability as the standard and is comfortable with high autonomy inside a sprint.

Responsibilities - Build product features across the Next.js frontend and the Fastify plus Payload CMS backend, respecting layered Feature-Sliced Design conventions. - Ship changes behind feature flags and A/B experiments, fully localized across every supported locale. - Integrate third-party providers for billing, email or CRM, and analytics through REST APIs and webhooks. - Cover functionality with unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, and conduct thorough self-reviews before requesting peer review. - Diagnose and root-cause bugs, optimize rendering and caching strategies, database queries, and bundle size. - Apply secure development practices—schema validation, access control, careful secret handling—and contribute structured logging, metrics, and alerts. - Break down, estimate, and deliver tasks within sprints, communicate risks early, and escalate architectural or security questions to senior engineers.

Requirements - Two or more years of commercial React experience, including at least one year with Next.js (App Router, Server Components, route handlers, rendering and caching) and confident TypeScript. - Node.js backend experience on a typed HTTP framework such as Fastify, Nest, or Express, with PostgreSQL, REST API design, schema migrations, and webhook integrations including signature verification, idempotency, and retries. - Hands-on familiarity with TanStack Query, Zustand, React Hook Form with Zod, Tailwind CSS, and a component library like HeroUI, MUI, or shadcn/ui. - Experience with a code-first headless CMS on PostgreSQL such as Payload, Strapi, or Directus, including collections, access control, and generated types. - Testing discipline using Playwright or Cypress for end-to-end coverage and Vitest or Jest for unit and integration tests, plus Git flow, code review, and CI workflows. - Daily use of AI development tools such as Claude Code or equivalents, including configuring context, instructions, and integrations, with ownership over the quality and security of generated output. - English at B1 or above.

Nice to have - Background in subscription or D2C product development. - Experience operating against edge runtimes like Cloudflare Workers. - Familiarity with performance budgets and observability platforms.
