Job details
About this role
Role overview
Shape the experience of a terminal-based developer tool and its companion website. You’ll solve visual communication problems within a compact character grid, designing clear ways to present code changes, plans, permission requests, costs, and other information.
Responsibilities
- Define the visual language for terminal screens, including layout, information density, motion, and a palette that works across different terminal themes. - Design and prototype interface elements such as approval cards, plan views, and navigation through prior states. - Build prototypes that engineers can run and use to develop the product. - Keep the website and terminal interface consistent in their visual style and language. - Test designs with users in their own terminal environments and use those observations to guide improvements.
Requirements
- A portfolio showing at least one product used by real people and shaped by practical constraints. - Strong understanding of typography and grid-based layouts, including the demands of a monospace interface. - Ability to read and make changes in TypeScript and React to implement design work.
Nice to have
- Experience designing developer tools; terminal products are especially relevant.
