Role overview Serve as the functional lead for Workday Absence and Time Tracking at a commercial-stage oncology company preparing to scale toward several thousand employees. Combine deep configuration expertise and a consultative approach to deliver accurate time capture, reliable absence administration, payroll alignment, and a strong employee experience. The role reports into People Operations and Systems leadership and partners broadly across the organization.
Responsibilities - Serve as the Workday Time Tracking and Absence subject matter expert, owning configuration, maintenance, and optimization of time entry templates, time types, eligibility rules, absence plans, accruals, carryover rules, balance caps, validations, work schedules, calendars, and approval workflows. - Support global and regional rollouts, new country deployments, and regulatory or policy changes affecting time and absence. - Drive the Workday roadmap and continuous improvement strategy for Absence, Time Tracking, and related capabilities, balancing scalability, compliance, data integrity, payroll accuracy, and user experience. - Lead cross-functional initiatives focused on time and absence systems, including policy changes, process redesigns, integrations, Workday releases, and enhancements. - Partner with the Workday Architect Lead to align solutions with enterprise architecture standards and evaluate feature adoption across releases. - Translate business, payroll, and policy requirements into scalable system designs, configuration decisions, and technical specifications.
Requirements - Deep hands-on expertise in Workday Absence and Time Tracking, with strong broader Workday HCM knowledge. - Demonstrated experience leading functional configuration and roadmap planning for Absence and Time Tracking. - Strong cross-functional partnering ability across People Operations, Payroll, Benefits, and HR leadership. - Experience supporting global rollouts, multi-country deployments, and regulatory or policy change management. - Ability to lead requirements gathering and translate business needs into scalable system designs.
Nice to have - Experience with Workday Payroll or integrations between Workday and third-party payroll, time-capture, or leave administration systems. - Knowledge of U.S. payroll, benefits, or other Workday functional areas such as Learning, Performance, or Peakon.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-eligible position; base pay range of $150,000 to $189,000 USD for onsite work at the Redwood City, CA headquarters, adjusted for local market. - Total rewards package includes competitive cash compensation, equity awards, benefits, and learning and development programs.
