Role overview
A fully remote role on a developer tools team building integrations and infrastructure for an email platform used by millions of developers. Work spans SDKs, a React-based email framework, a command-line interface, MCP servers, and the supporting backend services, with the goal of making it easier for developers to integrate with, debug, and depend on the platform.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain developer tools that work across multiple languages, frameworks, and environments - Build and operate the backend services that power those tools and integrations - Partner with product teams to define consistent API contracts and behavior across SDKs, CLI, MCP, and documentation - Develop interfaces used by both developers and AI agents, including MCP and the CLI - Own compatibility, testing, release management, and version upgrades so users can rely on what ships - Create shared internal tooling that helps other teams ship changes confidently - Engage directly with users through support channels, GitHub issues, and pull requests
Requirements
- Solid background building and running production APIs and services - Comfort with TypeScript and Node.js - Working knowledge of authentication, authorization, retries, idempotency, rate limits, and partial-failure handling - Track record of shipping software that other developers rely on, with awareness of the responsibilities that come with it - Ability to design developer-facing APIs, including versioning and deprecation strategies
Nice to have
- Open source contributions or close collaboration with external maintainers - Experience building SDKs, CLI tools, MCP servers, or platform integrations - Familiarity with React or frontend build tooling - Operated systems with queues, monitoring, and error recovery - Worked across multiple programming languages and understand what makes a library feel natural in each - Interest in or experience with email infrastructure
Benefits and work setup
- Compensation: $130,000-$160,000 USD, adjusted for location and experience - Fully remote within Americas or European time zones - Some travel expected for team offsites, conferences, and meetups - Remote-first team distributed across multiple countries - High bar for product quality, reliability, and craft
