Job details
About this role
Role overview Join a developer tools team building SDKs, CLI tooling, MCP integrations, and supporting backend services for a widely used email platform. The role focuses on making email infrastructure dependable, well-designed, and pleasant to integrate across languages, frameworks, and environments. Fully remote within Americas or European time zones, with occasional travel for team offsites and conferences.
Responsibilities - Build and maintain developer tools that make the platform easy to integrate across languages, frameworks, and environments. - Build and operate the backend services and integrations that support those tools. - Collaborate with product squads on clear API contracts and consistent behavior across SDKs, CLI, MCP, and documentation. - Build interfaces developers and AI agents use to interact with the platform, including MCP servers and CLI workflows. - Own compatibility, testing, releases, and upgrades so external developers can depend on what ships. - Build shared internal tooling that helps other squads ship changes across the developer tools surface confidently. - Engage directly with developers through support channels, GitHub issues, and pull requests.
Requirements - Strong backend engineering experience building and maintaining production APIs or services. - Proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js. - Solid understanding of authentication, authorization, retries, idempotency, rate limits, and partial failure handling. - Track record of building software that other developers depend on, with an appreciation for the responsibility that comes with it.
Nice to have - Experience maintaining an open source project or working closely with external contributors. - Built SDKs, command-line tools, MCP servers, or platform integrations before. - Familiarity with React or frontend build tooling. - Experience operating systems with queues, monitoring, and error recovery. - Worked across multiple programming languages and understand what makes a library feel natural in each. - Interest in or exposure to email development.
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote role with teammates distributed across multiple countries. - Room to shape technical decisions and take projects from discovery through production. - Direct collaboration with the developers who use the tools being built. - Compensation: $130,000 – $160,000 USD, commensurate with location and experience. - Occasional travel expected for team offsites, conferences, and meetups.
