Role overview
An open core company is building a multimodal data stack for physical AI, combining an open-source viewer and SDKs for visualizing 2D, 3D, time-series, and statistical logs with a commercial database for querying and visualizing entire robot and spatial-AI archives. This role works across the full stack of that viewer and SDK layer, integrating tightly with the database backend.
Responsibilities
- Build and evolve the open-source viewer and cross-language SDKs handling large volumes of 2D, 3D, time-series, and statistical data in real time. - Integrate the viewer with the commercial database so users can work with datasets far larger than their local machine. - Make architecture decisions across the stack while keeping the system maintainable as data volumes grow. - Collaborate with backend, infrastructure, and design teams to navigate cross-boundary tradeoffs quickly. - Profile and optimize user workflows across desktop platforms and the web. - Contribute upstream to downstream open-source projects when that is what progress requires. - Work directly with open-source users and customers running the platform on very large datasets.
Requirements
- Strong programming skills in Rust or another compiled language, with the ability to read and work in an asynchronous Rust codebase. Production Rust experience is not required. - Generalist mindset that moves between UI, rendering, data handling, and infrastructure rather than staying in one lane. - Comfort making technology and architecture decisions that span the full stack.
