Role overview
A small infrastructure team is building a multimodal data stack for physical AI, including a catalog and storage engine that already handles petabytes of robot training data for early customers. This role owns the control plane — chiefly a Kubernetes operator — that automates deployment of the commercial product into the company's cloud and into customer environments.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain a Kubernetes operator, including CRDs, controllers, reconciliation logic, APIs, tests, and releases for the control plane. - Extend the platform during customer onboarding so new networking, IAM, storage, and cluster requirements work end to end. - Improve production reliability and scale through observability, CI/CD, and incident response across local dev, staging, and production. - Participate in follow-the-sun on-call rotations with the rest of the team.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering background treating infrastructure as code you build, not just systems you operate. - Deep Kubernetes experience with the operator pattern: CRDs, controllers via controller-runtime, kubebuilder, or operator-sdk, shipped to production. - Proficiency in Go and the ability to read or contribute to an asynchronous Rust codebase, with eagerness to learn where needed. - Solid grasp of distributed systems and data-intensive infrastructure. - Earlier-career engineers with strong fundamentals and genuine interest in the work are welcome; the team hires across levels.
