Senior/Staff Data Scientist

Role overview

Join a senior individual-contributor data role focused on helping a fast-growing developer platform make better product, customer, and business decisions. You will act as a strategic analytics partner across Product, Engineering, Growth, Go-to-Market, Finance, and other functions, turning ambiguous questions into measurable goals, rigorous analysis, and clear recommendations. The role may include analytics, analytics engineering, experimentation, and machine learning depending on priorities and strengths.

Responsibilities

- Partner with leaders to frame high-impact questions, clarify decisions, and define how success should be measured. - Create KPI definitions and measurement frameworks covering acquisition, activation, adoption, engagement, retention, conversion, expansion, and customer outcomes. - Analyze user, customer, product, and business data to identify opportunities, diagnose friction, and guide investment priorities. - Design and evaluate experiments, including guardrail metrics and other approaches suited to the decision at hand. - Establish measurement plans and instrumentation requirements for new products, programs, and initiatives. - Build trusted analytical foundations, including dbt models and semantic or context layers, in partnership with Analytics Engineering.

Requirements

- Senior-level experience applying data analysis to complex product or business questions. - Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders and translate analysis into action. - Experience defining metrics, building measurement frameworks, and evaluating initiatives. - Strong analytical judgment, including the ability to choose appropriate methods for ambiguous or evolving problems. - Experience with analytical data modeling, instrumentation, or visualization workflows. - Familiarity with AI-assisted coding or analytics tools used to accelerate analysis, modeling, instrumentation, or visualization.

Nice to have

- Experience with causal inference, cohort or survival analysis, time-series analysis, or statistical methods beyond standard A/B testing. - Background in developer-focused, product-led, sales-led, or usage-based businesses. - Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, platform-as-a-service products, developer tooling, or other technically complex products. - Experience analyzing multi-product or multi-segment businesses and connected customer journeys.
