Engineering Manager, Governance & Access

Role overview Lead a growing engineering team building governance, identity, and access capabilities for a developer platform. You’ll set the team’s direction and technical foundations for managing users, teams, permissions, environments, and security controls, while extending those capabilities to software agents acting on users’ behalf.

Responsibilities - Lead and grow the team, including hiring, performance management, and engineer development. - Set the roadmap for identity, access management, roles, permissions, governance, and related security capabilities. - Define how access and delegation should work for both people and software agents. - Make key architectural decisions and balance security guarantees with usability and delivery speed. - Work with product and design partners to align priorities with customer and platform needs. - Coordinate with security and adjacent engineering teams as the platform and team scope evolve.

Requirements - Strong people leadership, including a record of hiring, managing, and developing engineers. - Experience building or scaling a team from an early stage. - Comfort working through ambiguity and adapting as a team’s scope develops. - Ability to operate at pace and partner effectively with product and design.

Nice to have - Experience in identity and access management, security, governance, role-based permissions, or compliance. - Exposure to agentic or AI systems, developer platforms, or business-to-business software. - Experience managing senior engineers.
