Remote job
Radar Algorithms Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview
Develop algorithms for phased-array radar used to detect and track objects and generate radar imagery for aviation applications. You will take work from early analysis through implementation on target hardware, helping define system requirements and supporting aircraft integration and flight-test evaluation. The role includes ownership of real-time radar processing on FPGA- and DSP-based platforms.
Responsibilities
- Analyze phased-array radar performance and develop processing for short- and long-range tracking and radar image generation. - Design algorithms using MATLAB and Python, then implement them in C++ for the target platform. - Define system-level requirements and lead technical trade studies with cross-functional engineering colleagues. - Support radar integration on aircraft and analyze data collected during flight tests. - Own real-time algorithm processing across FPGA- and DSP-based hardware. - Troubleshoot system issues, identify root causes, and drive resolution.
Requirements
- Engineering fundamentals, typically supported by a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or a related discipline. - At least eight years of hands-on experience with radar algorithms, system design, signal processing, integration, and testing. - Ability to work with C++, MATLAB, and Python. - Experience developing pulsed and FMCW radar processing algorithms. - Experience with airborne radar development and testing. - Willingness to travel approximately 15% of the time.
Nice to have
- An advanced degree in science or electrical engineering. - Experience with avionics system architecture or certification requirements. - Background integrating and troubleshooting electronic sensors and components. - Weather radar, radar imaging, SAR, or GMTI experience. - Ability to make sound engineering decisions across disciplines when information is incomplete.
Benefits and work setup
- Access to the work is subject to U.S. export-control rules. Applicants may need to provide documentation establishing their status for determining whether access can be authorized.
