About this role
Role overview
Lead end-to-end analysis that helps public corrections and parole agencies evaluate policy options and improve outcomes. You will turn complex administrative data and open-ended policy questions into clear, decision-ready findings, working closely with partners as project needs evolve.
Responsibilities - Use SQL and Python to explore corrections and parole data, identify how systems operate, and make defensible assumptions when data is incomplete or variable. - Shape policy questions into an analysis plan, define useful measures, and manage the work from scoping through delivery. - Model potential policy changes and explain their likely effects in ways that support practical decisions. - Prepare findings and materials for decision-makers, adapting the analysis as stakeholder needs or understanding change. - Coordinate with partnership colleagues and public-sector stakeholders to align analysis with project objectives.
Requirements - At least five years of full-time professional experience. - Experience adapting quantitative methods to create understandable metrics in ambiguous settings. - Experience working with large public-sector administrative datasets; criminal justice data is especially relevant. - Ability to work independently, make analytical judgment calls, and adjust plans as projects develop. - Strong collaboration, listening, and communication skills.
Nice to have - Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, Looker, Jupyter notebooks, and Python/Pandas.
Benefits and work setup - Full-time role, with remote work in the United States or work from offices in New York City or Oakland. Occasional travel to state partners is encouraged about every six months and may sometimes be required; visits may include prisons and parole offices. - Salary is $120,000. Visa sponsorship is not available. - Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents; 20 PTO days, three paid volunteer days, and 13 holidays; 12 weeks of paid parental leave; and a 401(k) with a 5% company match. - Additional offerings include wellness and mental health support, fertility and family-forming benefits, and flexibility to work remotely or from either office.
