Role overview
A hands-on leadership role within an internal digital innovation group, responsible for hiring and developing a team of Forward Deployed Engineers embedded across manufacturing sites and resource centers. The position pairs deep software engineering credibility with people leadership, delivering full-stack solutions that solve real operational problems and drive measurable business value.
Responsibilities
- Partner with manufacturing, engineering services, and functional teams to identify operational inefficiencies and digital solution opportunities - Evaluate and prioritize opportunities based on business impact, feasibility, and strategic alignment - Guide Forward Deployed Engineers through complex technical decisions, feature development, code reviews, and delivery execution - Define and implement engineering standards, coding practices, and security practices across projects - Build reusable assets, playbooks, and documentation that strengthen delivery excellence - Establish post-deployment metrics to measure solution impact and feed continuous improvement - Evaluate AI-assisted development tools and emerging Industry 4.0 technologies to accelerate delivery velocity
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred - 8+ years leading customer-facing software delivery, implementation, or solution engineering within enterprise SaaS, technology, or systems integrator environments - 2+ years of people leadership experience developing engineers, architects, or technical delivery teams - 3–5 years of hands-on software development, integration, or full-stack development experience - Experience with DevSecOps, secure SDLC methodologies, and Agile/SAFe delivery frameworks - Fluency applying AI technologies across the software development lifecycle - Proficiency with Jira and Confluence and managing multiple concurrent engagements - Domestic travel up to 25% to customer sites
