Information Systems Specialist – Public Sector

Role overview

An entry-level opportunity on a Public Sector team supporting federal and Department of Defense customers who rely on containerized software. The role blends day-to-day IT operations, troubleshooting, and security-related tasks with hands-on learning in container security and software supply chain technology.

Responsibilities

- Support daily operation and troubleshooting of information systems used in federal and DoD environments. - Work across Linux and Windows systems, networking, user access, and system configuration tasks. - Investigate customer issues, document findings, resolve problems within scope, and escalate complex cases to senior engineers. - Assist with installation, configuration, patching, system hardening, and other security-related tasks. - Maintain clear documentation, system inventories, and configuration records. - Support compliance activities by gathering information and following established procedures. - Build practical knowledge of container security, vulnerability management, and software supply chain concepts.

Requirements

- U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance. - 0–2 years of professional IT experience, with relevant military service, internships, co-ops, help desk work, or substantial hands-on lab experience welcome. - Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, IT, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent military technical training. - Foundational knowledge of operating systems, networking, security, and technical troubleshooting. - Clear communication skills and a professional approach to working with government and enterprise customers. - Occasional travel to customer sites.

Nice to have

- Hands-on Linux administration or troubleshooting experience. - Security+ certification, or willingness to obtain it if required. - Exposure to cloud platforms, containers, scripting, or cybersecurity tools.
