About this role
Role overview A Senior Software Engineer is needed to help build a care coordination and follow-up product used by radiology teams, ensuring important clinical findings don't fall through the cracks. The work spans customer-facing web applications, Python-based backend services, ML pipeline services, and third-party integrations in a high-scale, HIPAA-regulated healthcare environment. The role partners with full-stack engineers, ML engineers, product leaders, data scientists, and customer success teams to deliver reliable, secure software that improves clinical workflows.
Responsibilities - Develop large-scale progressive and single-page web applications that streamline user workflows and improve efficiency - Build and maintain Python and FastAPI backend services, including REST APIs and machine learning pipeline services - Ship new features that support a rapidly growing customer base of healthcare systems and radiology practices - Write code that meets internal standards for security, style, and maintainability in a high-scale HIPAA web environment - Collaborate with product management, ML, data science, and customer success stakeholders to iterate on features and resolve defects - Advocate for product quality, security, and performance improvements through code reviews, design collaboration, and engineering best practices
Requirements - Five or more years of industry engineering experience with single- and multi-tenanted environments - In-depth knowledge of Python and FastAPI, or equivalent modern languages and frameworks - Experience with relational and document-based databases and other large-scale data storage paradigms - Solid understanding of modern web architecture and best practices - Hands-on experience with unit and integration testing - Comfort working on a distributed team with strong version control skills using git - Experience diagnosing and addressing performance and optimization problems
Nice to have - Experience with PostgreSQL - Experience integrating third-party services such as Auth0 or Amplitude - Background at an early-stage startup - Prior work in a HIPAA-compliant environment, especially with FHIR and HL7 - Experience working on machine learning systems
