About this role

Role overview Lead the design and delivery of advanced statistical, machine learning, and generative AI initiatives that address high-impact clinical and operational problems. This senior individual contributor role combines hands-on technical architecture, mentoring, and direct partnership with research and clinical leaders to translate complex questions into production-grade data products.

Responsibilities - Architect and own end-to-end delivery of complex statistical, ML, and generative AI initiatives spanning multiple use cases. - Design, build, and productionize interactive R Shiny applications and R-based analytical tools. - Set technical direction through design reviews and mentor junior and mid-level data scientists on modeling, R/Shiny best practices, and responsible AI. - Define and run bias, safety, and explainability evaluations for owned AI outputs, with particular scrutiny for pediatric-population risk. - Partner directly with research principal investigators on study design, analysis planning, and interpretation of complex results. - Advise on appropriate use of HPC or research-computing resources for compute-intensive modeling and build shared tools that scale across teams.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM field, or equivalent experience. - 6–9 years of experience in data science, including significant project ownership. - 4–6 years hands-on experience building and productionizing ML and generative AI solutions. - 4–6 years hands-on experience with R, RStudio, and production-grade Shiny application development. - Advanced expertise in statistics, ML, and data mining, with the ability to independently design model architectures and evaluation frameworks. - Demonstrated ability to mentor data scientists and present technical work to cross-functional audiences.

Nice to have - Deep experience with responsible-AI evaluation in pediatric or clinical settings. - Experience with fine-tuning or advanced retrieval-augmented generation and agentic architectures. - Experience running analyses in an HPC or research-computing environment. - Established working relationships with research PIs, including study-design input.

Benefits and work setup - Compensation range of approximately $165,830 to $243,141 per year, depending on geographic market and experience. - Package may include annual bonus or incentive opportunities, equity awards, and an employee stock purchase plan. - Additional benefits information available during the hiring process.
