Role overview

A large real estate technology organization in Latin America is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to serve as a premier technical anchor and senior individual contributor. The position sets architectural direction across complex, large-scale platforms and shapes organization-wide technical strategy. The work centers on high-concurrency systems, distributed data consistency, and decoupling of mission-critical services that span multiple teams and products.

Responsibilities

- Define and own the architectural direction and technical roadmap for major platform scopes, identifying new org-wide opportunities aligned with long-term product vision. - Translate ambiguous, unstructured problems into execution-ready technical scope, producing maintainable systems with clear documentation and well-defined interfaces. - Establish engineering standards and best practices across large or complex team scopes, advising on trade-offs around quality, velocity, reliability, and build-versus-buy decisions. - Mentor senior engineers, conduct difficult technical conversations, and provide senior technical assessments to management to inform project strategy and team composition. - Serve as a lead interviewer for senior and principal technical roles, guarding the technical hiring bar and shaping internal allocation decisions.

Requirements

- 10+ years of professional software development experience, with a track record leading delivery of high-volume, high-concurrency, mission-critical distributed systems. - Deep knowledge of modern software architecture paradigms, distributed data consistency, fault tolerance, and system-level optimization. - Demonstrated ability to articulate engineering trade-offs concretely and design systems that remain maintainable as teams and products scale. - Proven capability to remove collaboration barriers, build strategic roadmaps, and foster an inclusive engineering culture. - Fluency in Spanish and strong English skills (verbal and written) for daily use in code, architecture documentation, and global alignment.
