About this role

Role overview This senior to staff-level role focuses on building the next generation of automated printed circuit board (PCB) design through high-performance C++ algorithms, data structures, and systems. The work tackles some of the hardest problems in computational geometry, optimization, high-performance computing, and physics simulation, with opportunities to mentor peers and shape the technical roadmap.

Responsibilities - Architect and implement high-performance C++ libraries, algorithms, and systems for routing, optimization, and simulation - Design scalable data structures and computational methods to handle complex PCB design challenges - Collaborate with domain experts across disciplines including electrical engineering, ML/AI, and high-performance computing - Provide mentorship, technical reviews, and guidance to elevate the team's engineering practices - Contribute to one of several specialized teams (Core Router, Homotopy, Router Agent, or Physics), shaping algorithms that range from physics-aware routing to reinforcement learning infrastructure and electromagnetic or thermal simulation

Requirements - 3-10+ years of industry experience maintaining and extending large, high-performance C++ codebases in collaborative environments - Strong academic background with deep expertise in one or more areas: computational geometry, graph algorithms, optimization, high-performance computing, meshing, numerical methods, or physics simulations - Proficiency in Python for prototyping and integration with ML systems - Experience architecting and scaling large, collaborative C++ codebases - Strong mathematical and algorithmic intuition with the ability to translate theory into production systems - Leadership skills in mentoring, reviewing, and guiding engineering direction

Nice to have - Advanced degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in computer science, computational physics, robotics, or related fields - Experience with reinforcement learning, CAD/EDA tools, or physics-based optimization - Exposure to GPU programming (CUDA), parallel or distributed algorithms, or HPC frameworks - Contributions to open-source geometry, simulation, or HPC projects - Team-specific expertise such as graph theory and optimization (Core Router), geometric constraints and mesh refinement (Homotopy), parallel programming and API design (Router Agent), or finite element methods and distributed compute (Physics)

Benefits and work setup - Competitive salary and equity benefits - Health, dental, and vision insurance - Regular team events and offsites, approximately four times per year - Unlimited paid time off and paid parental leave - Hiring primarily within the US, with occasional exceptions for exceptional talent
