Job details
About this role
Role overview This lead designer will establish the product experience for a rental marketplace serving both renters and property managers. The role owns design from search through lease signing, including a new set of tools for property managers, and works closely with product and engineering to shape what gets built, test concepts quickly, and learn from real users.
Responsibilities - Set the product design direction and sequence the path from an initial release to a mature marketplace experience. - Own end to end experiences for renters and property managers, including listing and management tools. - Turn ideas into prototypes and testable concepts quickly, using research and user feedback to refine plans. - Partner with product leadership and engineers on strategy, scope, priorities, and tradeoffs. - Combine lightweight research and funnel data to inform decisions, including when signals conflict. - Use an existing design system where it fits and make reasoned design choices when the product needs a different approach.
Requirements - At least eight years of product design experience and a portfolio of shipped products that can be discussed in depth. - Prior zero to one product work and comfort making decisions with incomplete information, then revising them as evidence emerges. - Daily practical use of AI tools in design, with a clear perspective on where they help and where they do not. - Systems thinking across a marketplace involving renters, property managers, listings, and connected products. - Strong visual and interaction craft, with an ability to explain why details matter to user trust. - Clear communication, self direction, and the ability to make a product vision understandable to engineers, executives, and other stakeholders.
Nice to have Marketplace or B2B product experience is a plus. An interest in improving the rental experience for people who may be stressed or underserved is emphasized.
Benefits and work setup The listing states a compensation range of $180,700–$244,500 and says the role may also include a bonus, incentives, and employment benefits such as medical, dental, and vision coverage, retirement savings, and paid time off.
