Job details
About this role
Role overview Senior Structural Aerospace Engineers are needed to support next-generation aerospace systems, working at the intersection of structural analysis, design, and validation. The position focuses on ensuring critical aircraft components satisfy demanding safety, weight, and durability targets, with hands-on involvement in both classical hand-calculations and modern finite element simulation that carries through from concept to verification.
Responsibilities - Conduct structural and stress analyses using hand calculations paired with finite element methods - Perform structural dynamics work, including rotor dynamics, torsional system dynamic analysis, and environmental equivalence - Partner with designers to translate analysis findings into optimized load paths, balancing strength, weight, and manufacturability - Assess failure modes, contribute to test programs, and confirm compliance with regulatory and customer requirements - Support structural testing, document results, and communicate findings to cross-functional engineering teams - Offer technical guidance on design trade-offs between risk, cost, and performance while managing multiple priorities
Requirements - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline - 4-7+ years of aerospace engineering experience with significant exposure to structural analysis and design - Proficiency with engineering tools such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, and Siemens NX (Unigraphics) CAD - Strong grounding in structural mechanics, dynamics, and material science, with the ability to interpret complex results - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Nice to have - Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship required) - Experience integrating emerging technologies such as generative AI, automation platforms, or digital assistants into engineering workflows
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote role with up to 25% travel as needed; proximity to Indianapolis and an Eastern or Central time zone preferred - All applicants must be U.S. Citizens or lawful permanent residents - Pay range listed at $100,000-$120,000 USD, dependent on experience and certifications - Comprehensive medical, dental, life, and disability coverage, 401(k) with employer match, certification assistance, and professional development support - Flexible, collaborative, people-first workplace culture emphasizing work-life balance
