Role overview
We are hiring a Systems Engineering Manager to lead a team of pre-sales Systems Engineers supporting State, Local Government, and Education (SLED) customers across the western United States. The position is remote and focuses on coaching technical talent, elevating customer outcomes, and helping large public-sector organizations modernize their data strategies with all-flash storage, cloud, and AI-driven solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing team of pre-sales Systems Engineers, serving as an advocate for individual growth and team effectiveness. - Drive operational excellence by guiding the team in creating and validating technical demand within the SLED market. - Refine sales strategy and tactics, taking ownership of the technical responsibilities across pursuits and accounts. - Translate customer business needs into innovative storage, cloud, and AI-driven solutions that accelerate modernization. - Support responses to RFI and RFP documents, and pursue opportunities for interoperability, functional, and performance validation. - Track market trends and the competitive landscape, promoting thought leadership and mutual roadmap exchanges with customers and partners.
Requirements
- 5+ years of management experience leading high-performing Sales Engineers selling into large enterprise accounts. - 10+ years of experience supporting the sale of storage, networking, or systems solutions to large accounts and data centers. - Deep understanding of multi-tiered client/server and web-based computing architectures, including storage designs across DAS, NAS, and SAN. - Knowledge of digital transformation patterns, including cloud-native architectures, on-premises infrastructure, public cloud, provisioning automation, and containers. - Familiarity with VMware, LAN, Ethernet, TCP/IP, and general networking concepts. - Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
