A pre-sales systems engineering role supporting enterprise customers across Queensland, Australia for a data platform and storage portfolio serving hyperscalers, AI labs, and the broader technology ecosystem. The position blends deep technical expertise in storage, distributed systems, and cloud with consultative selling, helping customers map technology solutions to measurable business outcomes while partnering with account managers, specialists, and channel partners.
Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of Queensland customers' businesses, priorities, and decision-making drivers, and translate that insight into tailored technology recommendations. - Connect solutions from the broader storage and data platform ecosystem to measurable customer business outcomes in collaboration with alliance partners. - Partner closely with account managers, specialists, and channel partners to design a seamless customer experience and strategy that drives revenue growth and net new business. - Take ownership of technical evaluations, benchmarks, and system configurations, and deliver compelling product and architecture presentations to secure the technical win. - Capture requirements and translate customer business needs into innovative solutions, and author responses to RFI and RFP documents. - Identify opportunities for interoperability, functional, and performance testing and validation, and promote mutual roadmap and planning exchanges with partners and customers. - Liaise with product and technical marketing to produce collateral such as whitepapers and web presentations, and stay current on competitive positioning and market trends.
Requirements
- Pre-sales experience covering Queensland enterprise customers is required. - 5+ years of relevant experience across technology, design, and communications, with supporting sales of enterprise storage, networking, systems, cloud, or software to enterprise accounts preferred. - Deep understanding of the architecture, design, and implementation of multi-tiered client/server and web-based computing solutions. - Prior experience targeting new prospects and converting them into clients, with significant involvement in RFP, RFQ, and RFI responses. - Strong knowledge of current and emerging storage architectures including FC, iSCSI, NAS, OSD, and SAN. - Working knowledge of Linux, NFS file systems, and Linux distributed network environments, plus familiarity with installation and configuration of distributed computing, multiprocessing, virtual memory subsystems, storage subsystems, shared memory, cache, and windowing architectures. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or another technical field, or equivalent experience.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP. - Experience with containers, Kubernetes, and microservices architectures. - Knowledge of VMware and local area networking. - Familiarity with modern web architecture including LAMP stack, scale-out versus scale-up approaches, the AWS well-architected framework, and microservices. - Exposure to storage-intensive applications and their requirements, such as structured databases like SQL and Oracle.
