Staff Software Engineer

Role overview This Staff Software Engineer role is a hands-on individual contributor position driving technical strategy, architecture, and execution across major product areas of a healthcare-focused B2B enterprise platform serving rehab therapy businesses. The engineer will tackle the most complex technical challenges while mentoring teammates and shipping meaningful code. The mission is to raise the engineering bar through deep technical leadership and direct product contribution.

Responsibilities - Define and drive technical strategy and architecture across major product areas, leading design for complex features and high-impact initiatives. - Drive technical refinement and de-risk complex initiatives before they reach the team. - Mentor engineers at all levels and raise technical standards across the engineering organization. - Lead implementation of challenging, high-impact product features and contribute directly to the codebase. - Participate in and lead code reviews, design reviews, product retrospectives, and other team ceremonies, reinforcing quality and maintainability standards. - Conduct technical interviews and evolve hiring standards for future engineers. - Identify architectural risks, tech debt, process problems, and scalability concerns proactively, addressing them in collaboration with other senior technical leaders. - Advocate for new technologies and patterns where appropriate, including using AI as a development force multiplier while maintaining strong human judgment. - Spearhead green-field architecture and organization for new products when needed.

Requirements - Meaningful experience as a senior software engineer with a focus on full stack web development. - Experience serving as a technical leader for complex, high-impact engineering initiatives. - Demonstrated ability to mentor experienced engineers and raise standards across a team. - Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical thoughts and decisions clearly. - Experience developing and maintaining enterprise-scale applications where data architecture and query performance were primary concerns. - Advanced working knowledge of PHP, Laravel, Vue.js, and MySQL, or equivalent stacks such as Ruby, Node.js, React, Angular, Ember, Postgres, or MSSQL.
